Hosting a Wine Tasting

Below are three different ways to approach conducting your own wine tasting, but remember that a key ingredient for any wine tasting is to have fun. Enjoy!
GENERAL TASTING
(Just for Fun)
- Choose four to six wine types
- Stay with well-known varietals. (ex: Chardonnay, Syrah, Rieslings)
- Price range between $10 - $15
- Provide guests with minimal information on wines
- Fun way to get to discover new tastes
COMPARATIVE TASTING
(The Fun Yet Educational)
- Pick a Theme - All Minnesota Wines, All Riesling, All $15, etc.
- Each guest provides a wine and information on the wine they brought
- Conduct a Blind Tasting (ie - numbered brown bags)
- Tasting Cards to judge the wine (sight, smell & taste)
VERTICAL TASTING
(For Serious Wine Connoisseurs)
- Same wine type (Riesling), same winery, different vintages
- Proper glassware (glass style according to wine selected)
- Conduct a Blind Tasting (ie - numbered brown bags)
- Tasting Cards to judge the wine (sight, smell & taste)
